If the controller is still not charging then updating its Firmware will definitely solve the issue.
It works fine plugged in but says the battery is depleted when I unplug it and the orange charging light doesnt come on when its plugged in. If your Joy-Con controllers are still not charging at this time the next good thing that you can do is to disconnect the charging cable from the charging dock or from the Joy-Con charging grip. Tried buying a charging dock so I could plug it in from the bottom instead of the USB port. Even with a fully charged battery the switch says battery depleted and controller gives the same single charging light blink when I plug it in.
